Perhaps a party?

Dear Mela,

The car party is all off and Edwin and I are very much pleased in consequence and we will be at Comfort as soon as A.E. decides to come home. As soon as I hear from Mother about whether she wants us to go on the houseboat or not I will get the house party together.

It looks as if Agnes’s wedding might block some of our plans but I hope after this last thing the Van Ostrander and Clarks will keep apart. I received my invitation to the wedding this morning and will regret but think I will send a Helleu etching for a present if I can find a good one.

I might send her the engagement ring I purchased four years ago and tell her what it was intended for but guess I won’t.

Where are they to live? The street on the invitation Trinity Place I don’t know.

At present I believe our house party is to be Ida, Sally, Miss Sewall, Hy Babcock, Kate, George Spencer, Katharine, E.H.C. (Edwin) and isn’t Geo. Van Warner quite devoted to Miss Sewall?

I guess we had better not ask them until we find how Mother is at that time and how Katharine is. If these two invalids are no better we will have the same party as last year i.e. Miss Amelia Abercrombie Baker, Mrs. Alson E. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H Clark and

Yours Truly,
M. Talcott Clark

Don’t tell Edwin I engineered his visit this fall but I think I did it very nicely and planned the thing nicely also.
